Why Affirmations Fail
Why Affirmations Fail

In this article I want to talk about another popular self-help technique called Affirmations... and share with you why they simply do not work reliably - that's if they work at all.The use of Affirmations is very popular, and it is recommended in virtually every self-help system out there, particularly the mainstream ones. Here's pretty much how it go goes: You start out from the limited perspective of your conscious awareness - choosing a target, a goal - something you want to change or fix or improve in your life, something you're judging as wrong, bad, not enough, not what you want, etc.Once you've done that, you create a series of words in the present tense - and there's a whole bunch of formulas as to how you need to construct those short sentences - and then, within the context of affirmations as a tool, you repeat the present tense statement, over and over and over and over again.Within the context of this particular tool, by simply doing that - repeating the statement, the sentence that represents something that you really want to change, fix or improve - it will manifest itself. Now, this technique claims all kinds of success stories, testimonials and statements from people saying, "Yes, I used affirmations and it worked". And that's true, there are times where affirmations are used and they appear to be very effective.Yet the truth is, if you look closely, like all of the other self-help techniques, you see that it fails more times than it succeeds. Why? Because, as with many self-help strategies - like the Law of Attraction, Visualisation, Goal Setting and such - it presupposes that there is power and creative force inside yourself and that what you decide you want is accurate and truthful and would really change, improve or fix your life or whatever it is, and that you really have the power to create it.What's more, in the case of affirmations, there's the assumption that there's power in the words, and more power in your repeating them over and over and over again.Except... there isn't.One of the things I've discovered is the True Power, the True Creative Force that shapes what happens in your life day-to-day, every day from the moment you're born to the moment you die, is not coming from inside your "mind," in your thoughts, in what you focus on, from the words you compose, or the sentences and affirmations you repeat or say to yourself in your imagination. The True Power and True Creative Force that's responsible for everything that's happening to you day-to-day is behind the scenes in another aspect of your Consciousness. And that part of your Consciousness uses an entirely different "process" to create what actually happens to you. When it appears that the repetition of affirmations creates a result, it's because you were participating in a story (for lack of a better term) created by this other aspect of your Consciousness, and in that story, it looked like there was cause and effect and relationship between the words you were saying, the repetition of them, and the result. But there is no cause and effect relationship between the words and you repeating them over and over, affirming them over and over, and the result.Yet there is a cause and effect relationship between this other aspect of your Consciousness, the True Creative Force and Process and that manifesting. The True power, the True ability to radically transform everything that's happening in your life, your business, your career, your health, your relationships, everything, is not in getting better at using a technique where power appears to come from somewhere it doesn't; rather it's to be found in shifting your focus and efforts, away from the surface, away from the techniques, into an awareness and a connection to and an alignment with this other aspect of Consciousness who you really are - the other aspect of your Consciousness and the True Creative Process that is really responsible for creating everything you experience.I've discovered a very unique path to travel to help you move from where you are and into real power and where you want to be.If you really want to begin manifesting True Joy and Abundance in your life then you absolutely must begin with these first steps:1. Realize and admit that most of the popular techniques and strategies won't take you there, no matter how appealing they seem or how many testimonials you see about how well they work (if they all worked as well and reliably as you've been told, the world would be a very different place)2. Open your mind wider than you ever have before3. Consider taking radically different pathways to your goal - no matter what noise or resistance you hear in your head about them4. Consider using radically different techniques and strategies - no matter what noise or resistance you hear in your head about them5. No matter how badly you wish it weren't so, admit that when it comes to getting what you REALLY want, what matters most to you, there's no quick fix, no shortcut, no magic bullet -- it's going to take time and effortIf you can take these 5 steps, the rest will take care of itself as you're led in new directions.
