Just because the weather isnt nice doesnt mean that its time to hang up your sneakers and sporting equipment and head straight for the TV or your computer games after school. Its important that you keep you body and your mind active during the long school season ahead. As long as the weather permits, try having fun with some outdoor activities for at least an hour a day.

My childhood was very different from the childhood kids have now. In the summer, me & my freinds would go out to play with friends. We jumped rope, played badminton and hiked in near by woods. After supper, we played Kick the Can. When it became dark, we caught fireflies in glass jars. I was blessed to have a simple childhood.

But children don't have much time to play today and many aren't getting outdoor time. Tufts University Professor David Elkind, author of "The Power of Play," says an increasing number of schools have eliminated recess or are considering it. Apparently these schools want more time for academic learning.

But play is learning too. It is only through playful contact with that world that they create the learning experiences that allow them to make this world their own.

Kids learn about the weather, seasons, sand, building with blocks, sculpture, colors, smells, textures and much more. "Children's play is not a luxury," It is critical in children's ability to learn about the world, others, and themselves.I understand the benefits of play, which can be structured or unstructured. At Savvy Toys there is a wide range of Outdoor toys for kids which can be a useful Tool in Child's development.

Play & Toys reduces tension, helps kids work through emotions, develops cooperative skills, and increases the sense of smell, touch, taste, and motion.

I loved being on the playground with kids. They were either moving constantly or sitting as still as statues, lost in thought. When a child was sitting still I never interrupted his or her thoughts. Now that I am a Mother I know one thing for sure: Quiet times are introspective times and children's dreams begin there. Frankly, I worry about over-scheduled kids.
