General Motors will introduce the new saloon Baojun 630 in the Indian auto market. For a very long time, the American company has been planning to bring a new sedan vehicle. The rumors have it that the Chevrolet Aveo will not be able to bring the desired result for the US company which is known for manufacturing Chevrolet for them to bring about another model and introuce it in the market. Base on the reports, the Baojun 630 saloon version in the Indian auto sector along the Chinese partner of the company SAIC.

The new car is not going to replace the Chevrolet Aveo. For the company, the new car is going to be placed with sedan Chevrolet Aveo. The reports from China also says that the joint venture SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), recently introduced the first passenger car by the company- Baojun 630. because of the new car, the company plans on capturing the Indian auto market especially the sedan segment and it will be placed with direct competitors such as Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Manza as well as the newly launched Toyota Etios.

The Indian division of General Motors is planning to capture the growth in the domestic car market. The car maker also sets to invest about half a billion dollars in the Indian auto market if their expansion plans are to be taken into account. Already, GM India has invested more than a billion dollars in the company. As for the domestic car market, the company has other 10 car models in its portfolio right from the hatchback models to the sedans and SUVs. The company also has an accounted growth of 18 percent in November 2010 through selling 8376 units which was just about 7 118 units based on the November 2009 sales. The company also welcomes the idea of price increase of the cars from 1.5 to 3 percent in the first week of January next year because of the cost pressure from the raw materials front.

According to Karl Slym, the president and managing director of General Motors India, the company is planning to come with six new vehicles and 14 new variants of its cars in the Indian car market in two years time.
