In this era of modern computers is just amazing to me that companies that Intuit can release software with the limitations I mentioned in this product. My problem with Quicken 2010 is thankfully simple. It will not connect to my bank (a large financial institution) and is unparalleled in the industry standard, downloading files. Records for which I get this speed was announced. Yes, add more clearly that they do not read their files. Surely, this is wonderful sad reasons (read: excuses) for that. Package for the "best" solutions are outdated and download files. The "best" solutions do not work. But more importantly, when not working they offer no explanation for why it does not work. To be fair, it is likely that the problem is on my side of the economic equation, but there is no quick basic error handling option to show a meaningful way. So whether it is their fault that they can connect to my bank or mistake that can make a genuine mistake, the fact is, it's their fault. This leaves me only fat finger to all my transactions. There happens to be shelf-ware. My advice to those seeking personal financial management software ... Look elsewhere.

Excellent tool for your finances
It had been a while since I had used Quicken before coming back to the fold. I had switched to Microsoft Money but had to find another product when my bank stopped using the Money format. They actually did me a favor. I was a bit skeptical about coming back to Quicken, but what a difference. My wife is a visual person so the color graphs are a huge help when talking about where we spend our money. I like the detail and flexibility it provides with setting up and tracking expenses. I've only scratched the surface of the extent to which the software can be utilized but I am suitably impressed. I have no reservations in recommending that you purchase this product.

Quicken 2010 and Windows 7
I recently replaced my PC running Windows XP SP3 with a PC running Windows 7(64). I then installed Quicken 2010 using the disc I received from Intuit to upgrade from Quicken 2007. The install was seamless and had 0 problems. I then downloaded my Quicken 2007 files from the old PC to the new PC via a USB flash drive; I had
no problems!! The 2010 version isn't a true upgrade it is just a way for Intuit to make more money, but they will stop the online banking support by May 1 so it was necessary to upgrade. I'm not sure what other people do or how they do it.but if done right it works!!

This has all the features that I needed. I accidently purchased Simple Start (Quick Books) and that program was very lacking in features.
This one connects to my bank with no issues and downloads my statements and... well it just works.
I'm currently working to determine if there is an issue, It routinely does not take deposits and reflect them on the register (the program) thus making my available balance different than actual balance. This is a recent event. This has not happened prior to Feb 2010. An update???

No Download or Install Problems
After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant about upgrading from '08 to '10, but I had no problems with the download or install. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and transferred my old data from my previous hard drive without incident. I have downloaded my transactions from my bank without issue also. I mainly use quicken to keep up with my personal checking account and credit card debt and that is about it. For me, it is great.

Upgraded from Quicken Deluxe 2009 to resolve Data Corruption Issues
I was not planning to upgrade from Quicken 2009. I was relatively satisfied with performance and know that year-to-year upgrades do not provide significant change. This version is no different. There are minor upgrades in areas that I do not use. The upgrades include redesigned home screens showing Total Spending and What's Left views. My primary view is from my main checking account register. I do not use the `easy view' screens.
My reason for upgrading this year was directly related to data corruption errors that I was encountering in Quicken 2009. I also started receiving errors during bank downloads that until recently had worked reasonably well. I was concerned that my 29 Megabytes of financial data were at risk. A few days ago, I started up Quicken and was introduced to a New User screen wanting to know if I wished to create a new data file or use an existing file. When I selected the same file, it would say the file was not usable. When I rebooted my computer the file would start OK without any apparent issue.
I tried validating and super-validating but Quicken would crash before it was able to complete the process.
Since I was able to get Quicken to work, I decided that upgrading to latest version may help stabilize my data file and hopefully keep me from losing my data.
I ordered online through Amazon.com since the pricing appeared to be cheaper than direct through Quicken.com. I had no issues during the download process.
The installation did not go perfectly but I was eventually able to load Quicken 2010. The software crashed during one of the upgrade cycles to the latest revision of Quicken 2010. The latest version was revision 5. I had to go through the upgrade process three times before I was able to get to latest revision. My big installation pet peeve is that Quicken continues to install about 5 different marketing icons on the desktop without asking. This happens on every upgrade including this one. Most basic programs given an option to install these items and Intuit has purposely chosen to splatter the icons without asking and in spite of complaints.
Quicken 2010 has only one data file associated to it. My original file for Quicken 2009 QDF file was 29 Megabytes. Once I loaded Quicken 2010 the QDF file size grew to 233 Megabytes at installation and is now at 338 Megabytes two days later. I suspect the larger size is typical since data is consolidated into one file. I don't know if this difference is typical or if it will continue to grow exponentially. I suspect the former only.
I have been able to run validate and super-validate on the new 2010 data file. The data log output suggested that there are about 50 transactions involving transfers from 1992 and 1994 that appear to be damaged and should be deleted and recreated as appropriate.
I am happy that I have not had any further data corruption errors in the two days since the upgrade. The new version appears to be working well. [knock on wood and head].
There are no major noticeable differences for me between QDeluxe2009 and QDeluxe2010. I use fairly common features of the program including online transactions and transfers. There are more menu options.
NOTE: There is still a bug in the with the disappearing attachment icon for Payroll register entries. I suspect it is not widely reported but it certainly is very repeatable. I first noticed it in Quicken 2008 and is still there in 2010. If a Quicken programmer reads this - FIX IT!
For better or worse, I am stuck with Quicken since I have so many years of data and likely would lose some if I transferred to another program. The annual upgrade process is ethically suspect.
I am fairly satisfied with this version since it has resolved some data integrity issues I was experiencing.
