Griffin Hospital has organized the first edition of the Weight Loss Health Fair in Connecticut, which was a great success thanks to a special guest and the events that happened.
The whole event was introduced by Dr. Timothy Ehrlich, director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery is the Griffin Hospital, and his guest, author of "Fighting Weight" and sibling of the known boxer Muhammad Ali, Ms. Khaliah Ali, who was also the keynote speaker for this event. In her book, she tells her personal experience of lap band surgery and her weight loss journey.
Griffin Hospital staff were present at the fair too, people who are responsible with nutritional counseling, psychological support, rehabilitation, sports and more. Weight loss industry vendors were also present, together with weight loss surgery patients, who informed participants of their stories and experiences.
In Derby, you can choose between weight loss seminars, but a new support group which is held every month has been announced. If you are interested you may attend meetings at 6:30 pm on the third Thursday of each month at the Griffin Imaging and Diagnostic Center in Ivy Brook, 2 Ivy Brook Road, Shelton, Connecticut. Participation is free of charge but prior registration is required.
Support groups are part of a comprehensive health care available in the weight loss surgery programs because they offer the support needed and they teach you what to do before and after weight loss surgery and how to achieve lasting results, no matter what procedure you choose: the Lap Band, the gastric bypass surgery or gastric sleeve surgery etc.
