subject: London Fashion Styles [print this page] England's capital city is known for its stylish people. And while every high end designer has a shop in this fabulous city, it is more affordable brands like H&M, Topman, and Uniqlo that appear on the backs of every well dressed man about. Adding designer bits and expensive bobs give an outfit a little bit more lux.
Men's.
So what is the London street look for men?
Skinny jeans are a big hit, especially amongst hipsters and artists and therefore are often seen on legs trotting around East and North London. Cuffed trousers that show off worked in loafers and laced-up canvas shoes is also a common look. Men in London love their petty-coats, their blazers, and their leather saddle bags. For a dressier look, a slender suit always does the trick. After all, there's nothing more appropriate than a sharp look in a sharp city.
And of course, there are accessories.
We mustn't forget those. London men love their scarves, they love their bright coloured socks sticking out of their expensive leather shoes. They love their leather, driving gloves and they love their cufflinks.
Women's.
Like any major cutting-edge fashion city, London has its very own look. There are the glamorous girls, and then there are the girls with few things in their wardrobes but 150 ideas of how to wear them. Dark tights with jean shorts over top, a blazer, and tall boots make a popular look. Dark tights a short dress, shapeless or shapely, covered with a big grandfather sweater and a scarf is also quite cool.
2010-11 has seen the comeback of capes, long leather gloves and 1950s style dresses. On the more casual side, it has seen the return of Doc Martin's, bomber jean jackets, and fingerless leather gloves.
A preppy schoolgirl look is also a nice way to bring in the autumn. With a kilt at the centre of this look, it is complete with riding boots, tweed, and dark coloured corduroy blazers with suede elbow pads.
Military colours and styles never seem to go out, nor do nautical stripes, and of course black. Wearing black leggings, a long flowy black sweater, and platformed black lace up shoes, is just as in now as it ever was and ever will be.
And of course, their accessories.
Most women don't step out of the house without at least one accessory on, and sometimes many more then that. From hoop earrings, to chunky bracelets, vintage handbags, and exotic scarves, accessories most often make the outfit.
