USMLE Step 1 Exam - Dominate The Step 1 With These 4 Tricks

Do you want to learn the secrets to dominating the USMLE Step 1 exam? If you said yes, then you need to understand that studying for the USMLE exams is about more than just understanding the materials, it is about understanding the psychology of the people writing the exam. If you understand how to think like the test writers then you can avoid falling for the traps that they set purposely to hurt those who are weaker test-takers.

If you want success, follow these three steps so you don't get yourself stuck between those two answers that look exactly the same, they are:

#1 - Always read the last line of the whole question first

Want to save yourself up to 10 minutes in every single block? Learn to check out the very last line of the question before starting from the beginning. Some questions require absolutely nothing from the multiple paragraphs that they give you. Often times, you can read a 20 work sentence and the answer is obvious, allowing you to avoid the painful task of reading through 3-4 paragraphs and searching for some meaning.

#2 - Do not look at the answers before reading the question

It may seem smart to read the answers first so you know what to look for, but this actually creates more confusion and will add an extra 15-20 seconds to your whole time on the question. Instead, follow tip #1 and read the last line of the question first, as this is what will help you get an idea of where the question is heading.

#3 - Master the high-yield information

Test writers assume that 25% of test-takers will not know their high-yield material perfectly, and they take advantage of this. High-yield concepts will be given identical answers with only a 1-2 word difference, and this is where those who are not adequately prepared will trip up and fail. Master the high-yield information to avoid the subtle confusions they will throw at you on the test.
