Getting a parcel delivered to Sale is plain sailing when you use the services of a reliable and well-resourced courier company. The town of Sale, five miles south-west of Manchester, is a vibrant community, which has benefited from the growth of business and commerce in the city, and from the fact that it is the base for a variety of modern businesses supplying the service sector.
Until the middle of the 19th century, most of the area's income came from farming, but the arrival of the railway between Manchester and Chester via Altrincham saw its fortunes transformed. The area had always been well served, thanks to the presence of the Bridgewater Canal, which opened in 1776, and the A56 road which links the city of Chester with Manchester and, further north, Bury, Burnley and north Yorkshire.
In recent years, Sale's expansion has been encouraged by its proximity to Manchester Airport, which is just four miles south of the town, and is the busiest airport in the United Kingdom outside the London area. Despite its strategically important location, Sale nevertheless retains the feel of a small town, and this in itself has helped attract businesses to the area. Its employment base is well spread, with nearly one in five residents working in property and business services, one in six in the retail and wholesale sector, one in nine in manufacturing, and roughly the same proportion involved in health and social work.
Many people living outside Sale know the town's name from the rugby union club Sale Sharks, who play in the premier league of English rugby. However, the Sharks left the town after the team turned professional in 2003, and now plays in nearby Stockport. With a population of more than 55,000, Sale is now firmly established as a commuter town, primarily serving Manchester. But it also lies close to the M56, M60 and M62 motorways, making more distant towns and cities such as Warrington, Chester and Stockport easily commutable.
The proximity of these major motorways, and Manchester Airport, means that any company wanting to do business in Sale, or any individual who needs to keep in touch with a relative or friend living in and around the town, can do so easily. There is a wide range of delivery services available, with service levels and prices which cater for every need and budget.
The internet makes arranging a parcel delivery to Sale quick and easy. And thanks to the fact that delivery companies compete fiercely for business, sending a parcel can be cheap and cost-effective.
