Audi cars are renowned for being sophisticated, elegant, high quality and exceptionally well manufactured cars and are a highly sought after vehicle. All this and more does usually come at a price. Especially with sports options and luxury add-ons the cost can start to add up however, surely $1 Million dollars is pushing it?
Apparently not for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has just ordered an Audi A8 Security set to cost him just over $1 million dollars. You may have expected this type of extravagant car purchase from someone like the President of the United States who is the biggest target for assassination. However he already has his car security under control as he drives around in what must feel like a plush leather interior of a tank. However, it seems that Mr Netanyahu also feels he is under significant threat, therefore requiring him to be transported in the safest way possible.
The National preventative security force also known as Shin-Bet have placed the order for the car as a replacement to the entourage of cars usually found surrounding the Prime Minister. These have included a multitude of American and German vehicles with some Japanese SUV's thrown in for good measure. This was deemed no longer efficient to deal with the type of security the Prime Minister required and so Audi were enlisted to help solve their issues.
This new Audi A8 Security is an adaptation of the current A8 probably the extended saloon version to give extra leg room, with a brand new 6-litre engine capable of 450 horsepower and Quattro four wheel drive. It has run flat tyres, a separate oxygen supply to the cabin and can protect the occupants from bullets, grenades and even bombs. It also comes with all the luxuries and mod-cons one made need for their journey such as automatic leather seats and leather interior, DVD player and screens, refrigerator and sunroof with a built-in humidifier.
Sounds like an incredible vehicle and this is only from what they are telling us. There is no doubt there are even more security features included with the car which we cannot know about for obvious reasons. The car is expected to cost around $700,000 but due to the exceptionally high taxes, the overall price is over $1 million. It is also rumoured that the security force have ordered three but this is yet to be confirmed.
