Obesity is the medical condition of a body when the excess fats in the body has accumulated to the extent that it starts to harm your health. Obesity is regarded as one of the most quickly spreading epidemic of the world. It is a very big problem in most of the developed countries. In America alone the number of adult obese people have increased by 60% from the last year and more than one third of the adult population has already been identified as obese on some level or the other. In addition to that, one out of three children are also obese. These stats show us how big a problem it is for developed countries.

Obesity is not exactly a disease in itself. You just gain weight that's all. But that is just the tip of the ice-berg, obesity leads to many diseases which do different levels of harm to our body. Some of the major problems that arise due to this are Diabetes, Cardiovascular disease, Heart Disease, Stroke, Certain types of cancer, High blood pressure, High cholesterol, Metabolic syndrome, Sleep apnea, Asthma, Arthritis, Gallbladder disease, Liver disease, Urinary incontinence, Depression. It's frightening to just look at the list but it is even more frightening to know that this list is not even the 10th of the actual number of diseases caused by it.

Many societies and research centers have been made to create awareness about obesity. World Health Organization is soon to at it to the list of public health concerns which ironically also includes under-nutrition. Many societies like Obesity in America have take the responsibility of creating awareness about this disease in America and internationally.
