We tend to treat this as one of our necessities. School can never be as easy without this one. Office tasks will be too tedious if we dont utilize the use of this tool. Lastly, we can never be as entertained as before without the presence of different sites that offers different services, which are all a click away. In short, the internet is very useful, entertaining and brought a lot of help in our everyday lives.
Personally, I became an internet savvy when this breakthrough flourished. I used to spend 4-8 hours of my time everyday doing different stuff in the net. I surf, check my accounts and e-mail addresses, download free ringtones and movies, watch my favorite T.V. shows and read for the latest news and the likes. Moreover, I do depend a lot in the internet when it comes to my researches for school and for work. Since I dont have time anymore to be in the library and mingle with the dirt and bugs of the books, I just sit down and rely more with the internet. I believe, both ways will give me the same result but internet is far advantageous compared to the old school library.
First, you can have the information that you want in just few clicks on your mouse, fast and easy. Second, in the library you will worry, most of the time, if the books are already borrowed or been reserved by someone, well in the web theres no such things as reserved books, borrowed or even obsolete, you can have as many links as you want. Third, you dont have to worry with yourself scrambling with so many people and to manipulate the very complicated OPAC because in the net, everything will be seen right away, you just have to type the inquiry and presto! You have the needed information. Lastly, you can stay at home when youre using the internet while the library requires you to be physically present with your mouth shut (remember the silence please reminder on the wall?), and not only that you are required to bring your library card, and if lose it? Youre dead, say bye-bye to your library!
These are just one way of presenting the importance of internet. This is a God given technology so we should utilize it and use it in a positive way. Library will still be the best place for researches but at least you have your best alternative when these instances come your way. Happy surfing people!
