Shy Bladder Tips

Do you have shy bladder? Do you struggle to pee in public? So do I. So do many other people. In this article I will share a few Shy Bladder Tips to help you overcome shy bladder. Tips include how to pee at a social event, pee at work, and to use music to help you pee.

Shy bladder describes the phobia of peeing in public. It is a form of social anxiety and around 7% of the population suffer from shy bladder. The medical name for the condition is Paruresis.

Pee at a Social Event

Do you find it daunting to go out to social events and having a few drinks because you worry about not being able to pee? A tip to help cope with this is to not to go and try and pee until your bladder is full and you are bursting. This way you will find it much easier to go and will be less fussy about the set-up of the restroom and other people around. If you wait till you are bursting to go (and literally limping to the restroom!) then you may also only need to pee once in the entire night. So go out, have a good time, and don't worry about having to pee.

Pee at Work

The key to coping with shy bladder at work is to pee at the same time everyday and in the same restroom. With a bit of trial and error you will find a restroom that is usually quiet at a certain time every day. Once you have found a restroom and time of day that works more often than not then stick to it. You will find over time that you will automatically be conditioned to relax in that specific restroom at that time of day.

Listening to Music

Many people struggle to pee in public because they are worried about other people listening to them and about the awkward silence in the restroom when others are around. If you walk into a restroom whilst plugged into your MP3 player you will not become aware of any atmosphere in the room and will also not be disturbed if someone walks in mid flow. This technique is known the work better if you are already listening to your MP3 player as you enter the room, rather than taking out your MP3 player when you get into the restroom.
