subject: How To Eat Healthy While Travelling [print this page]

To maintain a healthy diet these days is difficult enough, let alone trying to keep it while travelling. If your day sounds similar to this, running around from work, to parties, transporting the kids and more, these are some strategies for you that really do work.

1. Transform your car boot into a refrigerator

Ok, maybe not literally, but it is a good idea to keep a small cooler in the back of your car. It can be stocked with healthy foods such as fruits, veges and raw nuts along with ice packs and tupperware (just in case), when you go out for the day. At the end of the day, just empty the left over contents and return the ice packs to the freezer for next time. This will also keep your water bottles nice and cool from the heat of the car.

2. Turn the supermarket into your fast food shop

Drop the trip through the drive thru and instead run into the local supermarket to grab an array of snack foods on the healthier side like fruits, nuts and veges. Many supermarkets these days have great salad bars, prepared foods like chicken and salmon, and healthier sandwich options but look out for the added nasties like mayo. So now you just have to swap the fast food joints for the healthier options in town.

3. Be the bearer of healthy food options at an event

When attending a social gathering, always offer to bring something along. At least you have your plate of food to eat as a healthy option, if nothing else. Contributing turkey burgers or some lean beef is a good deterant to keep away from the less healthier foods like hot dogs and sausages. A colourful salad and fruit salad are great options too.

4. Find the healthy places wherever you travel

Before you go on a trip, you can find the nearest whole foods, health foods store or even supermarket online. This means that you can still enjoy yourself on holidays but also being able to mainly eat healthy foods.

There are many more ways to maintain your healthy eating plan even if you are travelling alot and these are just some of the great ways that are easy to implement.
