In about a week after registration, applicants receive their pre-medical forms with all required paperwork. Shortly after its return a schedule is set up to begin the training process.
First is the medical screening which over 95% of all applicants will pass. The height and weight requirements are very liberal as up to 6 foot 5 inches and 250 lbs. will qualify. A review of any previous serious medical history, such as a heart condition or other physically limiting issues are evaluated with top flight physicians.
Over the course of several days not only are you medically reviewed but you will have the opportunity of entering into an altitude chamber. Here you will experience the likeness of what it feels like to reach certain heights and to measure your reactions.
One of the most exciting experiences during your training will be an aerobic flight. This will not only present an extremely memorable fun time, but you will get to feel and react as the flight will mimic many movements of your future space flight.
Obviously you now have gotten an opportunity first hand to feel and react to situations that your space trip would encounter. Your reactions were observed, measured and evaluated as your instructors discuss with you various aspects of these tests.
The primary purpose is to prepare you with some idea of what's to be expected as well as to see your reactions and answer your questions. Once completed and you pass all your pre-medical and testing its time to return home, make final payment, receive your future space flight number in the queue and await your calling. This is a time not only to relate about how exciting your training has been but also being able to feel excited and think about when it will be your turn to go.
Finally the time nears. Today is the day you have been waiting for and now your going. The last few days of space training are here.
