Domestic Appliance Spare Parts A growing Market in the Recession?

Domestic Appliance Spare Parts A growing Market in the Recession?

We all use domestic appliances in some way or other, whether directly (the owner operator!), or indirectly a quick trip down to the local laundry, and a takeaway to reheat in the microwave will do the job! But what happens when the trusty appliance, sitting and going about its business inoffensively for the most part, breaks down? "Disaster!" I hear the dishwasher-dependant amongst us cry.

Of course, we can all manage without a dishwasher, but in these ever worsening economic times, a broken domestic appliance can be a worrying scenario for many of us. So, the ever-nagging question "To buy, or not to buy?". Sometimes, replacement with an expensive, shiny new model may be our only option. Sometimes a quick visit from the repairman and the old machine may be good as new. But then there are those awkward in between times, when we must weigh up the cost of a repair against the cost of a new machine, where the scales do not obviously come down in favour of one option over another.

It is at these times, that we will seek out a good supplier of spare parts, to try to ascertain the likely cost of a repair. While we may only now notice that the handy hardware shop that used to be on every High Street has all but disappeared, we may not so far have wondered where spare parts can actually be obtained, should we need them.

The answer is, that filling the gap left by the local hardware shop, are the larger specialist spare parts suppliers, sometimes specialising in one brand, and sometimes covering many brands, who will offer to despatch spares nationwide. Whether you are looking for a spare part for the big brand names, like Whirlpool, Bosch, Hotpoint, or minor players in the domestic appliance field, like Caple, Liebherr, Baumatic, you can generally find a spare part to suit by looking online, and contacting a specialist spare parts supplier. So, check out your repairman's charges, check out the cost of the spare part required, and if this is substantially less than the cost of a new appliance (or if you are just emotionally attached to your old one!), beat the recession by choosing the cheapest option.
