Finer Waste Management Techniques
Finer Waste Management Techniques

One of the major environmental problems happening in Philippines is the rubbish that people are haphazardly throwing in the streets. It has been a way of living for a very long time, and since it has been this way for so long I don't think Filipino citizens really find it as a problem. However; this is a thumb down for most of the tourist that visits the place. It is only normal for most Filipinos to finish what they are eating and throw the wrappers in the street. I think one of the major reasons for why that happens is because there aren't many waste cans around so people just take the easy way and stick their garbage in any corner. That corner eventually builds up and moves on into the streets and sidewalks that block the drainage system. This is one of the most depressing issues for this third world country who is currently facing a long struggle in its economy.

This is an abnormality in the society that is very difficult to alter. Yet there are still finer solutions to this problem. One is to properly manage their waste. Let us find out the proper ways in managing solid waste.

What is waste management?

As we all know waste management is the collection, disposal and transport of waste materials. Mostly, these wastes are generated by human activities. There are different methods on how waste management is done.

Techniques in proper waste management

Organizing domestic, industrial and commercial waste has conventionally subsisted of collection, followed by disposal. Depending upon the form of waste and the area, a stage of dispensation may follow compilation. This processing may be to condense the vulnerability of the waste, convalesce material for recycling, fabricate energy from the waste, or reduce it in volume for more resourceful disposal.

Collection technique varies broadly flanked by different countries and regions, and it would be impracticable to depict them all. For example, in Philippines most urban domestic households have wastes that are emptied weekly by the local waste collectors. Many areas, especially those in less developed areas, do not have a formal waste-collection system in place. Most of the time, they find a certain vacant area and dispose their waste improperly.

Disposal methods also diverge widely. In the Philippines, the most frequent method of discarding of solid waste is to landfills, because it is a small country with a high-density population. By disparity, in other countries it is more common for waste to be conflagrated, because the countries are bigger and land is copious.

Today, the Philippines are trying to take waste management a notch higher. They are now building one of the most recent and effective technology in one of its rural areas. This technology is known as the biosphere technology. It uses solid waste materials that are usually found in our homes and in landfills. The good thing about it is it creates green energy through trash. With the green energy that it produces it minimizes the green house gas emission in our atmosphere. The biosphere technology also produces by-products that are essential and helpful to use. The energy that it endows is efficient and cheap unlike consuming electricity and oil for generating power.

Saving the environment and keeping our surroundings a better place by eliminating the trash that surrounds us is one of the tasks that we have to face. This would not only benefit the human race but other living things that depend on our earth to live and survive.
