I bought it in March 2009, I always had it in a drawer, with the exception of the fee on weekends (each weekend), if I made up my land in West Virginia. I used it only for my C-PAP battery.
Everything went well for 13 months, it was a solid work horse, and was very helpful. In April 2010, when I plugged in the C-PAP battery alarm went. I was disconnected, turned around to let him sit for 5 minutes and tried again to use. No alarm this time. About 30 seconds later, a small explosion occurred in the case of (enough for me to jump back) and white smoke was emitted into the atmosphere (smoke, nausea).
Perhaps it was with me. $ 145 for 13 months .... I think I made less valuable investment, but it was sad to see her dead.

Good product--Mech.Engr. used this for many boosts/recharges
Have had this for over a year. Have used it for (1) several dead-battery truck boosts during bitter cold weather (2) running cell phone chargers and portable radio chargers.
This product works fine and recharges in the advertised time frame for both 12VDC and AC-adapter modes...
...but, be careful about maintaining it...as some of the reviewers have warned.
As with any gel-electrolyte system, you cannot ignore the ambient temperature effect on this system. The DO NOT's are (1) never leave this unit's charger plugged or unplugged in a hot car/truck (2) never attempt to use this unit when it has been below 32F for a long period of time...the gel (probably) won't freeze, but the internal impedance will make it useless. At what temperature the ionic transfer is useless is something I don't know--just keep the damn thing "warm", ok?
I got this unit for emergency vehicle boost. I keep it on an AC-adapter charger mostly. When I am on the road I keep it in my truck cab plugged into the "cigarette lighter" to maintain the charge when the truck motor is in use.

Planning an outdoor meeting, we needed a power pack that would run a Bose L1 Compact, a wireless mic, and a keyboard. After reading all the reviews we decided to go with the Duracell DPP-600HD. I chose the two day shipping and received it the next day!! We were in Phoenix and it shipped from Goodyear, AZ. Upon receiving it, the battery showed that it was fully charged. Not wanting to take a chance of it running out while we were using it, we plugged a laptop and a small fan into it. Brought the charge down a bit and then charged it over night prior to our needing it. The next day we used all three items for 3 hours and everything worked flawlessly. I am glad that I went with the Duracell, because when I received it it is really the Xantrex with Duracell on the body! The instruction manual states it and so did the outside box. In fact, my husband thought I had ordered the Xantrex until we pulled it out of the box. On another occasion, we used it to plug in an electric blanket. We were warm all night! :-) It met the need we had and I can see it will be useful in the future.

I purchased this jump starter for my wife as a Christmas gift, for her to keep in her vehicle for emergencies.
It does take up alot of room, and also you would expect something this size to have storage for cables and the wall charger. Unfortunately, these items have to be stored separately. I don't like this.
Recently she needed to jump her vehicle because the door was left open and the courtesy lights drained the battery. She could not get the jumper cables connected to the Powerpack! Came to find out later that there is a plastic plug in the jumper cable socket that has to be removed before the cables can be plugged in. This little nugget of information is not printed anywhere that we could find. I didn't like this either.
I hope next time it is needed we can use it successfully.
