Birmingham is a beautiful vibrant city which is known for its charm, style and enviable reputation of world class sporting events. Another great feature of this city is that it has more miles of canals than Venice. Parks are abundant in Birmingham with all the natural beauty and adorable sceneries. There is much more to see in Birmingham and you can enjoy those places without even spending too much.

Sutton Park

It is the largest park in Birmingham city and recently been designated as the National Nature Reserve by English Nature. It offers you jogging track, fishing, horse-riding, orienteering and sailing.

Cannon Hill Park

It is another popular park in the city which is rich in wildlife. It has cycling track, walkways alongside the River Rea.

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

It is built about two hundred years ago and has a vast collection of historical items, art, science, and nature.

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter

It is an award winning museum which is built around the preserved workshops of a renowned jewellery firm called Smith & Pepper. This museum presents the insight history of the city's jewellery trade over the last two centuries.

Coventry Transport Museum

This museum is known for its vast collection of British road transport in the world. 230 cars and commercial vehicles, including 250 cycles and 90 motorcycles are kept in the museum.

Soho Museum

It is a historical building and was once the home of Mathew Boulton who was a supreme figure in the industrial development in the city. The building was restored in eighteenth century.

Aston Hall

This was built in 17th century and was built on flamboyant Jacobean style. It is considered as the Grade I listed historical building in the Midlands.

Blakesley Hall

It was built in 1590 for a rich business man Richard Smallbroke and presents the lifestyle of the late Tudor and Stuart periods.

The Barber Institute of Fine Arts

This is one of the finest art deco buildings and you should visit this for once. It contains a huge collection of arts, sculptures, prints, drawings and paintings. It also has a prized collection coins, weights and seals from Middle East, Rome and Byzantium.

Sarehole Mill

This mill was built on the site of Biddies Mill (built in 1540), in 1765. It is certainly a great example of water mils used to exist in Birmingham. You will also find a blakehouse, built around a cobbled courtyard, a metal workshop and a granary.

EVENTS

So, many different events are hosted by the city during the different times of the year to represent the cultural diversity of the region. Some of them include:

Black History

This is a month long celebration that is held in the month of October each year. The purpose of this is to show the contributions, struggles and achievements of the Black people.

Frankfurt Christmas Market

This event is held in the city from mid-November to 21st December, where the traders from Frankfurt sell traditional Christmas decorations, candles, jewelry, handmade toys, ceramics and glasswork.
