This bag is very easy to set up and worked perfectly for a 1000 mile trip. I did not notice any drag or significant change in gas mileage. As noted by previous reviewers, I would recommend tying or taping down the slack in the straps if you get jumpy whenever you hear a noise up top.
It took me about 30 minutes to set up the first time (in the dark), but subsequent uses took less than 15 minutes. Taking it down takes 5 minutes or less.
I am very pleased with this product.

I purchased this rooftop cargo bag for a camping trip/3-day concert (DMB!) over to Eastern Washington at the end of summer. I wanted plenty of time to test it out, and return if need be, before the excursion. I looked at many bags, online and in stores. I did research and ready many customer reviews. It was the reviews on this bag that really helped my decision.
Just by the looks of it, I am impressed with the sturdy, water proof material (almost vinyl-like). A friend has a similar bag but with a more canvas-like exterior, and things have gotten damp in that one. I fully believe that if it happens to rain during our trip, our things will stay dry. There's nothing to flake off the interior, zippers seem fully covered by over-sized flaps with Velcro, and the straps appear to be reinforced onto the top of the bag.
I have an older model Toyota wagon with gutters and after market Thule cross bars. So with my lack of side rails, I just clip the side straps around the foot packs holding up my cross bars. This has been done in the past (with my friend's canvas bag) and the cargo traveled securely and safely (it was all good, except for the dampness inside!).
I hope to return in a few months to give a proper review, once it's been driven across the mountains and back.

Couldn't be happier.
I reviewed and researched carriers for 3 days before I chose this one. I got it in 3 days and familiarized myself with it before the trip. I was impressed that it was a thick durable carrier. We packed it with 4 suitcases and some bags just to fill it up. It stayed completley tight the entire trip with no noises at all. I really like the fact that it folds up to be stored so it doesnt take much space. We drove a total of 1900 miles to Florida and back to Indiana and had no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend it. FOR THE MONEY, YOU CANT BEAT IT!!!!

No issues through the rain
Drove 5 hours through heavy rain On I-80, and all my gear was dry as a bone after I unpacked. When you drive with this cargo bag, I couldn't even feel that it was on my roof. Just make sure to tape up any slack on the tie downs, so they do not flap against the wind. I strongly recommend this product to carry your extra cargo. I have another trip scheduled this year, this one is a 10 hour drive, and I sure I'll have no issues with this either.
