Racing: A brief overview of what racing is all about

The term racing shows different images of different people; be it horses, cars, athletes or even video games, overall it can be said to be a competition of speed. Originated from a Norse word raz, meaning swift water in Brittany, France, players participated in a race and try to finish a particular task within the shortest period of time. It means getting from one point to another, or competing with number of participants that are around as fast as possible. Early records of racing are apparent and found in ancient Greece.

Oftentimes race is connected with a particular place where the race is being held, as it was first started like the New York marathon. Usually, race covers a fixed distant region and participants need to follow certain rules laid down by the organizers. While running has always been a common form, racing too involves other popular activities like boat racing, car racing and even racing riding animals.

Races are usually conducted from one point to another point, but some of the races may be run in stages or heats. A heat is a race that is run over the same course at different times, on the other hand a stage is a shorter part of a longer race. Marathons, road running, running, swimming, bicycle racing, motor racing, ski racing, etc are some of the popular kinds of races conducted.

Racing too involve animals, whether it may be done by racing animals alone or with the human riders on the animal's back. Horse racing, camel racing, etc are some of the popular ones. Vehicle racing like aircraft racing and motor racing like the Formula One racing and boat racing are some equally popular forms of racing. Racing is however no longer an exceptional event today. In fact, today's world of virtual reality has its own racing scene.
