subject: Xerox's 4510 Monochrome Printer Series - Everything That You Need To Understand [print this page]

Designed for providing monochrome printout needs of a busy office setup is the Xerox 4510 Printer. This machine uses the laser technology, and can be easily used by a single computer or even shared by a workgroup having a maximum of 25 units. It's capable of dishing out regular documents and those with special printing requirements. It has a fast processor, device management utilities and an impressive media handling capacity as well as high quality Xerox 4510 cartridge.

Within it is a fast processor that runs at 533MHz. This allows the machine to provide as many as 45 black-and-white pages every minute. Also, to get everyday jobs done quickly, the first page is out in as short as 8 seconds. Other than being a fast performer, its Xerox printer cartridge is powerful enough to handle a heavy workload. In fact, the duty cycle is set by the manufacturer at 250000 pages every month.

It has a 700-sheet input media capacity. But in case there's a need for more, simply purchase and install an optional media feeder, providing a combined 1800-sheet media capacity. Still on media, there are numerous types which can be worked on. Some of them are regular paper, recycled, glossy, card stocks, transparencies, envelopes and labels. Supported sizes range from as little as 3.0 inches x 5.0 inches to as big as 8.5 inches x 14 inches.

For ease of installation to a single computer or even a network, there are multiple interfaces present. There's a hi-speed USB 2.0 and an IEEE-1284 parallel port for using the machine with a computer. For being shared in a network with as many as 25 users, there's the Ethernet 10/100 Base-TX card. Save your workplace from those unsightly cables by simply purchasing and installing a wireless network adaptor (IEEE-802.11).

Its edge over other similar machines is its ability to carry out specialty printing jobs. For instance, it can handle tasks requiring edge-to-edge or full bleed printing. Other capabilities include printing of posters, booklets, watermarks, negative image and mirror image. Xerox understands that time is precious. That's why it has thrown in the Load While Run feature which lets you restock media without interrupting the printer's performance.

A variety of device management utilities can be found on the 4510 black-and-white laser printer. The CentreWare Internet Services Embedded Web Server allows for online troubleshooting and ordering of supplies. The PrintingScout comes in handy when the machine is connected to a workgroup. It lets you have in-depth printer usage and job status so printing cost can be effectively managed.

Upon purchase, a 128MB standard memory is already present. But when dealing with large-sized files and complicated tasks, it may be upgraded to a max of 512MB. PCL 5e, PCL 6 and Adobe PostScript 3 are the printer languages included. There are 81 PCL and 139 Adobe PostScript typefaces available. Making sure that operation is a breeze is the control panel on the top of the machine.
