The question of what sells well on eBay is all determined upon what you like and are passionate about because 1000s of things sell on eBay but to if you want to truly succeed at power selling you must carve out a strong niche for yourself based on your personal brand. Three examples of what can sell well on eBay and how to carve out an eBay power seller niche:

Janet has just quit her job and is looking for a way to make enough money to stay home with her three kids, each who is home schooled. Janet spends hours creating programs for her children to study with, finding the best schoolbooks and educational toys to help her kids learn. Janet truly enjoys finding unique and educational games, toys and books so she decides to make her niche on eBay related to that. She chooses the user name: educationaltoys-n-games and begins to search for the producers of the things she already uses with her family. Then she begins to sell and presents her clients with high quality and great customer service. Since she has tested and used most of the games, toys and educational books she sells Janet can offer the highest quality to her clients and charge more for the all around experience of buying from educationaltoys-n-games. Soon Janet branches off into a website e-commerce store and turns her hobby into a massive eBay success story.

Dean has worked in the high end fashion business for years as a journalist but is sick of all the red tape and deadlines. He has a great fashion sense and tons of connections with mid to high level fashion designers, so Dean decides to launch high-fashion-court as an eBay store and sell unique, high fashion articles to eager eBayers. He reaches power seller status within a month because he sells bags for thousands each and unique expensive shoes that he gets directly from the designers themselves. Since Dean knows so much about fashion already he writes a blog and writes several eBay guides to drive more traffic to his store. He tweets about each items that he lists and starts a facebook group for high fashion lovers. His expertise makes his online auctions very successful since upon being asked he can point his clients into the direction of several other accessories to make any outfit. He even sets up a Ustream live fashion show monthly for his fans. Dean has not only figured out what sells well on eBay within his niche but has carved out a loyal fan base that he won't soon lose.

Jack is a mechanic, he has worked on cars his entire life but yearns to escape the 9 to 5 and become an entrepreneur. Since Jack only knows cars he decides to go with his expertise and launches a eBay store that mainly sells parts for vintage cars and occasionally restores a full car himself and sells it for a nice profit at auction. Jack starts a podcast called Jack's Vintage Car Chat and it does well on iTunes, this drives more and more traffic to his eBay store and makes bids jump on many of his auctions.

These are just suggestions of how to carve out a niche on eBay and figure out how to really make some money selling at the Power seller level. In order to achieve the highest level of success, you must be an expert in what you are selling. No, I'm not saying that if you have an old doll to sell or a book or something that you need to be an expert on that item; you need to be an expert in whatever your main item of choice is.
