McCarthy revealed that Fabregas had been to the Wolves dressing room and apologised for the tackle, something that was accepted by both Ward as his manager.
The decision that both managers and the two players involved in the challenge are happy to leave the punishment as just a yellow card could well save the Arsenal captain from a lashing from the Football Association after a stream of bad tackles have appeared within the English game over recent weeks.
