2011: There Will Be A Whole Lot Of Phone Calling Going On

We Need More Sales!

If you can equate a slow economy with the growing number of hourly wage, online help wanted ads promoting job openings for telemarketers or "Inbound/Outbound" customer service specialists, it's probably a sign of things slowing down. Some companies are desperate to make more sales and so they hit the phones with a passion, calling people in the hopes that they will purchase whatever is being promoted.

Money Is Tight

It's an interesting notion to think that someone on the other side of that phone is waiting to spend money they probably don't have just because someone called them to offer something. Especially in this economy where people are trying to spend their money wisely, buying what they absolutely need.

For Whom Phone Calling Works

So, why bother calling people? There is another side to this and wise employers have already figured it out. They go after "warm, qualified" leads. Typically, these are leads from people who have requested a phone call or an email to receive more information. Those are the best people to call because they are shopping for a product or service. They're "targeted" leads and they're usually the best people to sell to.

Just Called to Say Hello

If you must call, make sure you're calling targeted people who want to be targets. People who have given you permission to be interrupted. That's the difference between being annoying and being a professional salesperson. Plus, it says a lot about your company when you can tell the difference between bothering people and actually helping them meet their needs. If you must do telemarketing to increase sales, check this out.
