MLM lead generation is seriously one of the most misconstrued
notions in the network marketing industry. The cause for this
misunderstanding is the 'old school' yet, widely popular method of
lead generation taught by MLM sponsors: "The first thing you should
do is make a list of everyone you have ever known including all
relatives, acquaintances, and people that work with you." Then,
when you're done racking your brain and applying the 'memory
joggers' your upline gives you, you're instructed to call every person
on the list and invite them to either a hotel meeting or a home party.
While this tactic works for about 0.001%, the rest of the newbie
network marketers either try this and fail, or are afraid to ever try at
all, for fear of being added to the NFL club (the 'no friends left club').
Quite frankly, I believe that the reason 97% of network marketers fail
is due to this flawed MLM lead generation technique.
The first thing you need to understand is that this is a business, and
has got to be operated like a business in order to achieve the
financial freedom you were told about in the beginning. You wouldn't
open a restaurant and expect to just tell Aunt Loraine and Uncle
Johnny about it and still remain in business and become profitable,
right? Multi-level marketing isn't any different. In order to reach
success, you need to harness the most forgotten, yet most
significant notion in MLM: marketing.
So what is the proper way of marketing your business? There are
multiple online and offline marketing tactics. MLM lead generation
without the internet includes fliers, drop cards, cold calling, the '3-
foot rule,' and mail-outs. There are a lot of people out there that will
tell you that these methods are out-dated and no longer work. I
consider these tactics to still work effectively, nonetheless, they
simply do not work as properly, swiftly or as economically as online
tactics. Actually, the internet allows you to contact a large group of
people from all over the world, much speedier than you ever could
being pigeon-holed in your own town trying to talk to each and every
person individually. The really cool thing about online lead
generation is that there are people on the Internet night and day that
are actually looking for a home-based business. Your only job is to
study how to get your opportunity in front of the people that are most
likely to be trying to find it, and they'll join you right then and there.
There are several online methods that work effectively, and can
help you go from part-time to full-time in one year or less. As a side
note, before we get started - you should realize I'm saying a 'year or
less.' The reason for that, is whether you're on the internet or using
the old style MLM advertising techniques, you will not get rich
overnight. Any story you hear of people having overnight success is
not the 'whole story.' When people say they were able to sponsor
186 people in less than a week, they aren't exactly telling it how it is.
It may be the truth, however, it's more like a like by omission. People
who make these claims omit the fact that the reason they were able
to recruit that many people in 3 days is because they switched
opportunities and the large amount of people that took them a year
to recruit, all followed them to their new opportunity.
The following is a list of my personal recommendations generating
leads. I'm recommending these marketing techniques based upon
what I've found to work the best, starting with my favorite.
Content Marketing - Content marketing is the creation of videos &
articles that link back to your website. It is a rather amazing
technique because there is no cost and it will bring more and more
traffic each day to your website. What I mean, is once it's created,
people will be able to find it all over the internet forever, if you
broadcast it correctly. The downfall is that it will take a couple
months of daily efforts to see some results. So if you know you are
the type that needs to see leads in your inbox today, paid
advertising will be the way you'll want to go.
PPC - Pay per Click marketing is by far the most effective paid MLM
advertising technique, hands down. The reason is, is that it targets
only people who are looking for EXACTLY what you have to offer.
For PPC, you select a keyword phrase, such as 'network marketing
company' and place a bid that you will pay, each time your ad is
clicked on. Then, when people type that particular keyword phrase
in Google, your ad will show up on on the right as a sponsored ad.
The only time you have to pay is when a person expresses an
interest in your opportunity by click on your ad. Having said that, you
can lose a lot of money with PPC if you're not careful and don't know
how to use it properly. I suggest you NOT try any pay per click until
you are properly trained. There is some great PPC training online,
and the book that Perry Marshal wrote is also a fantastic resource to
start with.
Social Networking - This is quickly becoming one of the leading
MLM advertising techniques and the reason for that is because the
way that humans interact with one another is changing. More and
more people are making use of socal networks such as Facebook
to meet new friends and network online. If you take a social
approach to marketing and make friends while you're at it, you could
dominate this method and easily generate 20-50 leads per day.
Social networking may soon become the most widely used form of
online MLM lead generation.
