Free affiliate marketing techniques are not always "free" as anyone in the business will tell you. And it's only getting more difficult as many companies are "slapping" those of us who are making a living from the Internet. I personally don't understand why some people have a problem with individuals making money on the Internet when big companies do it every day.
There has also been a panic in the marketing community since Google launched its instant version. But just remember, there are people who will make money on the Internet no matter how it evolvesand if anybody else can do, you can do it too. So here's some free affiliate marketing techniques you can use.
1. Article Marketing
This is probably the best way to generate some money without spending money. But here's the thing. You can't just write any article about anything and expect it to make you lots of money. Thousands of new articles hit the Internet everyday, so yours needs to stand out. Find a good topic, then research the keywords you will be using and check out what the competition are writing about. Keyword density counts, but you also don't want your keywords repeated so many times that search engine categorize you as spam. Plus, those are not pleasant articles to read anyway so people will click right off of them.
So here's something it took me awhile to understand. When you look up keywords you are trying to discover how many people have searched for a certain keyword or keywords (demand). Then you want to get on Google and type in the same keyword or keywords to see how many people have already beat you to it (supply). If the supply is much higher than the demand, then you will have a really difficult time getting found. It is probably better to find another keyword or possibly even another topic.
Should you put quotes around your keywords when searching on Google? No one can seem to agree on that. I search it both ways, but your real life competition is what comes up without the quotes, and isn't that what you REALLY want to know? The people who are looking for your article are not going to put in quotes when they search the Internet.
2. Sign Up for Guru Mailing Lists
This was something that probably helped me the most. I got on the mailing lists of Travis Sago and PotPieGirl a.k.a. Jennifer Ledbetter at the beginning. Over time I also added Frank Kern and many others. Here's the best part about that: They are always letting you know about the newest trends in marketing and they always give you free tidbits that will help you. You can also trust Jennifer and Travis not to endorse any paid products that are junk when you are ready to actually buy something.
These gurus sort of become you "master mind" group. If you know anything about The Secret or the Law of Attraction, then this is nota new concept to you.
3. Get a Free Website
So let me tell you about my biggest mistake. When I first started out, I bought Profit Lance then One Week Marketing from PotPieGirl and began my journey. Well, I was impatient and things just weren't going are quickly as I would have liked, so I decided it was time to ramp things up.
Lots of people in the business say you really need a website to direct all your traffic to in order to really make money, so that was my goal. I did lots of research then decided to build a WordPress site. Now, this was not a WordPress.com site, but a REAL WordPress site. The bad thing was this: I was new to this and the learning curve for me was HUGE. I ended up spending all my time working on the site and all my other marketing endeavors came to a screeching halt. That was a really big mistake. I also started spending lots of money although I wasn't actually making any money yet. Ouch!
4. Take My Free Advice
So here is my advice. I use GoDaddy.com for all my domains. I like them because they have good tech support and their site is easy to use. They have this thing called Website Tonight. If you purchase a domain from them, then you automatically get this website builder with it. You can publish it for free and it comes with up to five pages. The drawback is that they display some advertisements on it.
That's a small price to pay when you need a site for your marketing and don't want to spend any money. The good thing is that you can choose to pay for hosting on that page at any time and have the ads taken off no transition to another site or company needed. This is especially great when you are starting a new campaign and don't know how it will go yet.
One piece of advice: Get a plan for your marketing and STICK WITH IT! It is so easy to jump from one tactic to another when you are new to affiliate marketing. There are so many distractions and new programs out there, and they all claim to make people rich. Here's the truth - this business takes lots of work like any other business and you have to be consistent.
If you jump from one thing to another, then you never give anything enough time to work. I would give anything at least three months before I tried something different. (This is three months of CONSISTENTLY working on it everyday, or at least six days a week.) I told you it wasa lot of work!
