The Video Wall: Step Into the Future With Interactive Technology

In the past, businesses displayed pertinent information to consumers using what is known as a data wall. The data wall was a fairly impressive technology, but all it did was display letters and numbers. Essentially they could be used at the stock exchange to display tickers or they could be used at airports to display departure and arrival times. It is safe to say that the sky is not the limit when it comes to devices such as this, especially when you consider the retail cost of a data wall is around $25,000.With new technologies, however, come a world of new possibilities. The older video wall provided a great alternative to the data wall for many years. Originally, it was a series of televisions grouped together, and though they would have all displayed the same image, it was a bit awkward for viewing purposes. But with the introduction of the HDTV, we can now create an almost seamless video wall, allowing consumers to get the information they need, whether it be stock information, ticket prices, departure times, or any other information you can think of. The only question now is what will your business use the technology forand that really just depends on what you want to accomplish.Video walls are the future of interactive business communications, from the factory to corporate headquarters to distribution centers. In factories, it helps to streamline processes and organize. It can be used to log tasks and open up lines of communication between workers and supervisors. And workers get the sense they are working with an organization that walks the cutting edge, which has a direct influence on production and the inner "esteem" of the company. In corporate headquarters, they provide an easy way to initiate visitors and new workers to the company. In addition, they can be used to make announcements to employees, or once again, open up a whole new world of possibilities for project management. For bigger buildings, they can operate as wayfinding maps that show how to navigate the building and allow users to flip through floors like flipping through the pages of a book. And then in distributions centers, video walls can be used to interact with customers. Of course, person on person interaction is still a necessity, but these types of displays cut the fat out of time-wasting tasks that can be easily handled with a couple touches of the finger and some clear instructions from the software program.Even restaurants have found ways to use digital technology to change menus regularly, titillate the senses of their customer's, or simply provide aesthetics in a new way. With each day, more uses of this amazing technology emerge.
