Internet Security For Children
Internet Security For Children

It seems that many kids in today's world are using computers and laptops and the trend should only increase as computers become less expensive and increasingly important in our society. As a father to three great kids, one of my biggest worries is the security of my children as they surf the Internet. Because of generous relatives, each of my three kids has their own laptop and because they received them as gifts, it would be difficult for me to remove them. So, it looks like the laptops are here tostay. My primary concern is how do I provide security for my children on theInternet?

Because it would be impractical and virtually impossible for my wife and I to physically watch what our kids are doing on the Internet, I needed to find a means by which they could be observed on the Web without it being too obvious. So, I took on the mission to find a service or application that could get the job done...

Just about everyone that used computers knows about social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. These ingenious sites bring people together digitally and provide a framework by which people can communicate the occurences of their lives with friends and family. Unfortunately, the entire Internet community can also find out information especially about your childrenif you don't providesome kind of security system while they are surfing the Internet. Predators can scope out details about children such as addresses, phone numbers and their physical location at any given time, for example if a child posts the location and time of a party.

Another unfortunate phenomenon are "cyberbullies", people that harrass your children on the Internet, usually through social networking sites or e-mail applications. These people can be very vicious and intimidating to emotionally fragile kids, as it has been documented on the news in the last year.

Through some researching on the Internet, I have put together a blog page dealing with the problem of providing Internet security for our children. I believe that every kid should be protected while surfing the Web or using social networking sites from dangers that they may not be aware of. Please visit my blog to read about some of the results of my research---and keep a watchful eye on your children.
