subject: A New Way To Kill Fat Cells [print this page]

There have been several new discoveries made in the world of plastic surgery, especially for the liposuction surgical procedure that is performed to remove or decrease fat from the body.

Fat Cells are on a Hit List

Researchers have now discovered another way to kill fat cells. Cryopolysis is a procedure in which fat cells are frozen to death and then excreted out of the body. This form of non-invasive fat reducing surgery might be tough competition for Liposuction surgeries. If liposuction is not performed by an experience surgeon then there are several things that can go wrong with the surgery; things that might even result in the death of the person undertaking weight reduction.

Some Issues

Although cryopolysis which is more popularly known as CoolScultping has received FDA approval, it will not dramatically change the industry. It will take time to replace the traditional surgical procedure due to its demand, the trust involved, the cost, and the amount of time it takes for the person to recover from the operation being very quick. People have seen enough movies, like The Island or Demolition Man, to know that anything related to cryopreservation can be dangerous or at least strange and that it can easily be contaminated or ruined, because there is risk involved.

It May be worth the Risk

This procedure makes the cells numb, and hence the person may experience numbness over the surface where the fat is being removed from, whereas some have reported increased skin sensitivity on those areas where the procedure has been carried out. But nothing is perfect and the opportunity to look fit again, be healthy, appeal to those around you, and to be able to fit in an airplane seat may be worth the temporary trouble.
