Everyone has to speak in public at least once in his life. It is important to learn about public speaking especially in today's world. More and more companies want you to have at least some public speaking experience especially if you have a job through which you represent the company.
So what can you do to improve your public speaking game? How can you become a truly unique and good public speaker?
Good Beginning
When I was in high school in the U.S. I played on our tennis team. One day my coach came up to me and asked me what the most important part of tennis was. I had no idea and so I guessed and said "the serve". Luckily I was right.
The point I want to make is simple: The beginning is the most important part of every speech or presentation. If you don't grab their attention immediately then it will be hard to gain it at a later point in time.
So be sure to have a very effective beginning.
Tell a Story
Story telling is one of the best tools that you as a person have available in order to persuade other people. There is nothing that is more powerful.
Depending on how you want people to behave you can tell different stories. For example when you want your audience to buy a product you are presenting then a story about how taking action and buying things can truly change your life.
And believe me your stories don't need to be fancy or anything. They just need to be authentic and most importantly they need to contain a tail, something that will make people think.
Use Your Voice Effectively
Whenever you are holding a presentation in front of an audience one of the most important things to do is to speak loud enough. Nothing is worse then standing there and speaking in a monotone way.
To really get people to listen to you you need to vary your voice. When you are telling an exciting story then do so in an exciting way by varying your tone. Not only do you need to do that but you should also pause.
The best speakers are those that can use pauses extreme effectively.
