Mystery Missile Launch in California Shakes Confidence in U.S. Government

This is my main reaction to the recent missile launch in California. Why did it happen? Whose responsibility was it to ensure that the mystery missile from California would not launch without permission? What was the extent of the government's involvement? Are you confident in the government's ability to keep us safe?

Yes / No

(I really want to know what you think, so I included a special offer for a chance to test out a mac mini)

The navy denies it was their missile, however it was launched 30 miles off the coast of Los Angles. NORAD says they can, "confirm that there is a threat to our nation and it appears that this was not a launch by a foreign army," implying that some interior point in the military system is compromised. The government toys with the public, telling lies when necessary to cover up embarrassing events in the name of "national security". It would seem that these improper uses of delegated power by the U.S. government have become a means to further their agenda. That is not to say, however, that this is the collective determination of the government as a whole nor is it unique to a few individuals. It would be impossible to determine the reason why the system is as it is without extensive interior investigation, however it can be certain that the function of our government is tainted and heading south.

Corporations control political outcomes to an extent that is as equally unprecedented in history as it is dangerous to the continuation of liberty as business interests are placed before the common good. The deregulation of banks under the Bush administration directly contributed to the recent depression. Having a war based economy since the early 20th century does not help when the U.S. is attacked by a faction in Afghanistan and decides to instead go after Iraq in search of weapons of mass destruction that have not been found in the 7 years we have been there.

Incidentally there were blatant abuses of taxpayer's money that went directly to contracted corporations and mercenaries that did absolutely no good to the war effort. Why? Because it was profitable. We risk losing our humanity because keeping it is not in the best interest of the corporations that pull the strings behind the curtain. Such is the case with the news media cycle and how they twist facts until it fits their own agenda. Fox News has become the unofficial head of the Republican Party, distorting the opinions of the public by means of fear and general manipulation to the point where they essentially elect whomever they want to. The missile launch in California could be a potential goldmine if it can be manipulated in a way that benefits the corporation. This all makes me question the intentions of the U.S. government to a point where I cannot trust what it says anymore.

The point of all of this is that the recent missile launch in California is dangerous news. Its not dangerous because I'm worried that World War III is about to start, or we're going to be overrun by terrorists, but because I have no real way to know the real state of affairs. I feel less secure knowing that the government can do something and then sell it to the American public as an act by an evil foreign entity that must be reprimanded. The missile launch in California can only enhance this capability, as would anything determined to be of national interest.

Or worse, perhaps, that our most guarded and valuable assets in real national defense have been compromised and foreign powers have the ability to launch ICBM's at whichever target they wish to. This speculation creates an unknown, a fear of the dark as it were, that can be distorted in any way to tell us that there are monsters in the dark that wish to cut out our livers and live by eating our brains. This vacuum of information is a direct danger to our liberty as a nation as new laws cutting our freedoms can be instituted by the "necessary and proper" clause found in the Constitution in the name of "national defense". And it will work too, because we won't know any better.
