subject: Five Health And Fitness Presents To Ask For For Christmas [print this page]

Staying fit and healthy is something that a substantial amount of the UK population tries to do throughout the year to some degree.

Some put more effort into it than others, utilizing their gym membership every day and being strict with their diets, but it's generally accepted that most of the UK's population tries to be at least remotely healthy throughout the year.

When Christmas comes around, however, it can lead to many people falling off the health and fitness wagon, putting a stop to all of their hard work.

To ensure this doesn't happen to you, it's recommended that you try and stay focused throughout Christmas and a great way to do so is by asking for certain health and fitness presents for Christmas, with the following five being great examples.

1. A gym membership - due to the cost of some gym memberships, they are very often things that you tend to put off getting yourself, as you feel that you've got better things to spend your money on.

And although they may not be particularly suitable for one person to get you as a present for Christmas, it wouldn't be unrealistic to be able to ask for several relatives to put the money that they would have spent individually on you together and buy you a gym membership for Christmas.

2. Weights or dumbbells - when you want to carry out cardiovascular exercises, all you have to do is go for a run or swim. When you want to develop certain muscles within your body, however, it can be a little more difficult to do so without any form of assistance.

And this is where weights and dumbbells come in.

Although used primarily to develop the biceps, they can also help enhance your muscles in your shoulders, pectorals and forearms easily, as well as a number of other less prominent areas.

3. A chin up bar - a cheap and affordable present that can do wonders for anyone looking to develop their body, a chin up is placed in between a doorframe and is used, as it's name suggests, for you to pull your chin up above the bar, helping to develop your upper body.

4. A workout mat - one of the most important parts of working out is doing so safely and whilst a gym is likely to have everything you need, chances are you won't at home.

One of the best things you can get in terms of workout safety is a proper workout mat, which whilst being simple, can help prevent a number of potentially harmful injuries, especially in respect of your back.

5. A pedometer - possibly the cheapest health and fitness present you could receive if you simply asked for a basic pedometer, it's recommended that you ask for a more advanced one which also monitors your heart rate

The problem that a lot of people have with working out is that they don't monitor and record what they're body is telling them, something which a high quality pedometer should be able to do.
