subject: Mens Shaving Tips [print this page]

I have tried many different shaving methods and my main problem as with many men is sensitivity when shaving. I have used straight foam shaving solutions but I find that does not really help. Other shaving methods I have used include

ALOE VERA: This actually works quite well - think about it - aloe vera is used in many shaving lotions so using it in its pure gel form shoudl work.

COCOA BUTTER: I even cocoa butter and its effective but the trouble with cocoa butter is that it clogs up the blades too much. You can only remove it with very hot water.

DEPALIDATORY CREME:

I use this about once a week and I find this does a good job.You can use a mens depilatory crme or even a mild one that women use - even women tell me there is nothgn wrong in using these cremes. I apply it wait, rinse it off then blade off any remainder. The trouble is that you cant do this on a regular basis becaue it will burn and irritate your skin hence I use it once a week when I have enough growth. I use Nair.

BLADES:

Now, as far a s blades go I CANNOT get on with triple blades as I find they shave too much off all at once and irritate my skin. sO i only use double blade razors when shavng manually.

ELECTRIC SHAVERS:

Now this is the really interesting bit. I've tried a lot of electric shavers before and, well they are ok but they tend to nick my skin and dont shave close enough. I have used electric shavers a lot since the earliest Sunbeam and on through Remingtons, Braun, Norelco, etc. I have a VERY difficult beard that grows in many directions. I did try a product called Rotoshaver from www.rotoshaver.net. This odd looking electric shaver has 9 spinning blades that cut at variable angles and at 270 strokes per second.

I was very sceptical about this device but to my surprise it was ok. Reason why I think it worked well is because it's waterproof so i can use it like a traditional razor. I did find it best not to charge it continually or else it can damage the batteries. Just charge it once then keep using it until the charge runs out before recharging. I get about 20 shaves per charge. You can se it in action at their site which has a video on there showing it working.

Sometimes I use and electric razor, sometimes a wet razor and sometimes an Electric wet shaver/razor. For me it depends on how much regrowth I have and how much time I have. So really what I am saying is I use different shaving depending on my regrowth - how much and the type.
