Misplacing your keys is something that all of us will do at some point in our lives. Whether we are out with friends, grocery shopping or in the comfort of our own homes, losing your keys seems like it is one of those inevitable likelihoods. So, what are some things that you can do to prevent this from happening? For starters, whenever you are going somewhere, keep your car keys in your hand. For example, whenever my mother goes grocery shopping, she always keeps her car keys wrapped around one of her fingers while she pushes the shopping cart. By doing this, she always knows where her car keys are. And besides, if I am with her, and we are separated for whatever reason, I know where she is because I can always hear the jingling of her car keys.
Another idea that you can implement that will help you to stop misplacing your keys is to install a simple key ring holder at the main entryway to your apartment, home or otherwise. One of the first things that my boyfriend and I did when we moved into our new apartment was we installed a key ring holder to hold our keys. Now, whenever we walk in the door, we are immediately able to hang our keys up on the key ring. This makes it incredibly easy to find our keys whenever we are leaving to go out. This is especially helpful for those of you who have big homes or larger apartments where there are more spaces than ever to lose your belongings.
While many of us may not be self-proclaimed 'neat freaks,' we can still do our part to ensure that we don't lose our car keys! Keep your work area tidy and your home clutter-free. Car keys, motorcycle keys, house keys...They would love nothing more than to get lost in the clutter that you or someone else has created. In some cases, you can even purchase one of those 'key finders' that they sometimes advertise on infomercials late at night. These commercials will often dictate the various types of scenarios in which you can lose your car keys as well as what you can do to help prevent it from happening.
At my grandmother's old house, she used to have a little crocheted box that she kept by her front door in which she stored her car keys and outgoing mail. This is another great idea for those of us who don't like to put our keys on key rings or who, perhaps, don't want to have to put holes in the wall. Keep it simple and keep it on one key chain if you can. At one point, I had a key chain with a mass of keys on it that made me look like a janitor. I didn't even know where half of the keys went to at one point! It didn't take me long to realize that I needed to downsize my keychain collection.
