subject: Does It Cost Money To Use The Bathroom On Aeroplanes? [print this page] It might sound incredible but some airlines are considering charging customer on their airlines to use the bathroom. It's time that customers pushed back.
It won't be very popular with customers interested in comfort levels but some airlines are seriously considering charging customers to use the bathroom. Don't expect regular flights from San Francisco to Mexico City to ask customer to pay to use the restroom while in flight but some are considering it.
Flights from Washington to Dayton are similarly unlikely to be effected, and only airlines in Europe are seriously considering the potential to charge customers to use the bathroom. The idea is that customers would benefit from cheaper flights due to the amount of money that the airline raises from the charges. But it's unlikely that any profits in this matter will be passed on to the customers. What it a much more likely scenario is that it will simply be another profit making tool. Customers may ignore it on flights that are less than an hour or maybe two, but ultimately it will put customers off. It would certainly stop me from ever flying with an airline that engaged in this practice.
It simply doesn't seem workable. And it would require each customer to be let into the toilet by a member of the cabin crew. It simply won't work, and is unlikely to come across the pond to the United States anytime soon. So don't expect flights from Pittsburgh to West Palm Beach to require that customers pay. But don't rule it out either. By phoning to ask you airline to see if they plan to begin charging for this or anything similar you can add your dissenting voice to say that this is one step too far, and that it will not be tolerated.
