subject: What Information Do I Need To Take To The Airport [print this page]

Wherever you are travelling to, it's important to have the correct information with you. This makes your travelling easy and simple.

Most importantly, you need to take identification that has a photo, such as a driving license or a passport if you are travelling internationally. With this single piece of information, airlines are able to work out where you are travelling. Without it, airlines are unable to confirm your identity, or where you are travelling to, so they may refuse to allow you through security and on to the plane.

So it's important to have this information, especially on long distances routes like flights from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. Generally the rules is that the longer the distance, the more information you are required to take with you. If you're just catching a domestic flight you might be able to be missing some important documents, but when travelling internationally it's more important.

One thing many people forget to take is the information of the place they'll be staying when they take international flights, like flights from Phoenix to Bangkok. Thai authorities, when issuing your visa, will want to know where you will be staying, and who you'll be staying with during your stay.

When taking domestic or flights to a neighboring country, flights from Atlanta to Toronto for example, you will be unlikely to require a visa. But you will need to know which Terminal your flight is departing from. When travelling to the airport, to speed up your travelling experience, it's crucial to know which terminal you need to travel to. Terminals are often quite far apart, so you need to go the right one. Knowing your flight number can also speed up your departure when you need to find out if your flight is delayed for example.
