This has been amazing from the first night we plugged it in. We have about an acre of land and it does a great job in getting rid of mosquitoes--don't care what the experts say. This works and the proof is on the ground below the flowtron, a bunch of dead mosquitoes. Yes, it does kill some good insects too but it will rid your backyard of mosquitoes. Lastly, just like another reviewer wrote, we also have a critter that comes out in the morning to feast on the insects. No mess, fuss or cost like the propane mosquito killers.

Compared to Stinger, this unit "shines"!
This bug zapper works tremendously well. I had purchased a Stinger unit last season and instantly regretted the decision. The design was poor, and as it turned out, the unit did not last more than one year. This year I listened to the reviews on Amazon and purchased a Flowtron. Wow! This unit is so much better than the Stinger. First, the electrodes are smartly designed... Not two layers of wire mesh that quickly clogs like the Stinger, but one single layer of very sturdy vertical electrodes, spaced apart about a quarter inch. This allows the dead bugs to slip down and fall out the open bottom so no cleaning is required. Next, the large openings in the plastic case allow even large moths to enter and face their end. This is also a huge improvement over the Stinger unit. Finally, the light is much brighter than the Stinger unit was. The blacklight actually lights up my front yard with a blue light and attracts swarms of insects from all over. I can even leave my front porch light on and the Flowtron attracts them away from the porch light.
At the end of the day, I am convinced that the Flowton far outshines the Stinger. Please listen up!!! The bugs will be much happier if you choose another unit, but you will soon regret it.

I read all of the reviews for the Flowtron insect killer and ordered one. It arrived last evening and I unpacked and set it up this afternoon. I was awarded with a nice looking blue glow which lasted 15 minutes until the bulb burned out. Rather that open the new bulb I ordered at the same time because they were going out of stock I am returning it to Amazon as well as the Flowtron. To bad I am having to "eat" six extra mesquito attractants at $35 dollars because they are to "hazardous" to return. Funny they were shipped to me by Amazon OK.... Anyway. Buyers beware.....I never heard a single bug fry during the 15 minutes of operation by my Flowtron...Tom T.
Bug B Gone
Works like a champ, I have this outside right by my porch and I can tell you this is one of the better zappers out there. This unit has an open flow design to it so there is no need to have to go out and clean it day after day, the bugs fall right through it and out the bottom. I reccomend this product to anyone looking for a quality zapper.

I had been on the web looking for a "bug Zapper". The big box stores only carried 1 or 2 brands and the reviews were terrible. So I thought I would go to Amazon.com and I found this product. I read all the reviews and they were Great ! Everything about it sounded so good, that I decided to purchase one. I am most amazed at the performance of this product. You can hear it working all night long. It is well built and seems very sturdy. I only gave it 4 stars as I have had it up only a few weeks. I am sure it will perform year after year. A good product.
A good bug zapper, but attracted a lot of moths
SO living on a mini ranch I got this to cut down on flies and mosquitoes. The mosquito attractant did a good job, but didn't last that long, and was expensive to replace. The pesky "flies" go to bed at night so they aren't attracted to it. Otherwise it would just attract "non pesky" bugs in my opinion like moths and I felt really bad hearing them sizzle and zap when they didn't bother me. One night I went out and noticed there was a lot of moths and huge ones all around the bug zapper. I felt like they were trying to tell bugs and moths to stay away, so I took it down.. I know I am crazy and too kind but I kinda believe in Karma and not hurting anything unless it hurts me so I will just use it for bbq's and times where I am outside, and make sure I have the mosquito attractant.. I know I am crazy, but that is how I feel :)
