The city of Mendoza is the capital of the province. It has wide sidewalks full of trees and shrubs, irrigated by many water conducts which come from the base of the Andean Mountain Range. As the core of the National Harvest Festival, the capital has many touristic proposals to offer to its visitants. Cultural and historical circuits, a great deal of squares and parks, malls and shopping centers, eating places and first class acommodation, like the Executive Hotel, are some of the infinite alternatives.
There are four areas of touristic interest that can be found within the capital city. Only a a couple of blocks away from any hotel, a calm walk over the beautiful squares is enough to get to any of these places.
The Foundational Area is basically what it used to be the Colonial Mendoza. There we can find the Pedro del Castillo Square, the Museum, the Underground Chamber and the Sculptural Modules Yard.
The San Martin Park is the broadest green space in the whole metropolis. It is a place full of fountains, sculptures and nature. Within de park we can visit the Cerro de la Gloria and admire the Monument to the Andes Army. Besides, we can go over the zoo, the lake, the Natural Science Museum, the Mundialista Stadium and the Greek Amphitheater, where the National Harvest Festival is held every year.
In the area of the Civic Quarter we can walk around the Civic Park or visit the Wine Museum, the City Hall and appreciate the garden from its balcony. The Government House is also on this zone, and the Flag Room is open to welcome visitors from any part of the planet.
The Downtown gathers most of the stores and shopping centers of the city of Mendoza. In fact, there is a shopping service called Buying Urban Tram, a bus with an interior mounted like a real tramway, which takes its occupants along the roads of the Downtown.
In the evenings the city of Mendoza exhibits a large variety of activities for all preferences and ages. From cinemas, theaters, discos, bars, restaurants, wineries and gambling casinos, everything can be done and enjoyed when the sun has set. After a tasty meal in the Downtown, a lovely walk through some of the enjoyable squares can be a nice preliminary for a rest at the cozy suites of the Executive Hotel.
