While having a good project idea does not guarantee a successful project , a poor idea can quickly bring the project team down to its knees. Coming up with the right project idea although seems easy enough it makes sense to spend enough time upfront in brainstorming multiple project ideas and topics before finalizing on a project idea.
What are useful sources for coming up with a good project idea:
Solutions to problems in the real world. You can never go wrong with this. Think about the problems you face in your day to day life at home, while traveling in college or at the work place. Solving a real world problem with easy to use technology is always welcome and we would love to see another application which can make our life easier. Can you make transportation easier in your city, how about a health network for alternate remedies ?
Follow Technology Trends. We live in a world of change and technologies get outdated sooner than they are born. Technology Trends are constantly evolving to keep pace with the needs of businesses and people across the world and checking out the latest technology trends are always a great source of cool project idea. Small incremental innovations in using a new technology trend always have a much great impact. So if you love the world of facebook, social bookmarking, location based apps with all the 'check-ins' and the 'likes', there are a number of interesting research problems to be solved. Technology trends on cloud Computing, Analytics and Collaboration always have a large number of project ideas still to be implemented.
Read, Read, Read. There is no substitute to being a voracious reader and a daily learner. Whether it is reading all the books you can in your local library or following popular blogs and news sites online there is no alternate to being a learner all your life. Today availability of information has reached peak levels and we are only limited by how much we are willing to learn and absorb.
