How To Get Rid Of Eyestrain When You are Working at Your Computer

Nowadays, computer is an important system that supports almost all activities. Even, almost 75% of US workers sit in front of computer screen for more than three hours. Meanwhile, working in front of computer for more than three hours tends to cause eyestrain. In longer period, it causes some vision problems. In order to have comfortable work in front of your computer, you can follow these following tips.

First you can set the contrast level of the monitor. Turn it up to reduce the strain on your eyes. Then, set the position well to make it comfortable for your eyes. Make sure that the distance between the monitor and your eyes is in safe distance. The recommended distance offered by doctors and ophthalmologists is between 20 to 50 inches or 50 to 100 cm.

Somehow, in this range of distance, some people cannot read the text well. If so, you can simply adjust the font of the text into the larger one or zoom out the display of your document files.

Then, you should provide enough lighting to illuminate your room. Working with computer in such a faint or dimmed room will strain your eyes easily since the light of the monitor glares you eyes. You can use full spectrum bulbs as your main lighting, because this certain lamp is copying natural sunlight that will be easier for your eyes to be accepted.

Furthermore, do not forget to blink to keep your eyes moist. People who work in front of monitors tend to blink less frequently. It will be dangerous because by reducing blinks, you force your eyes to work very hard. The moist of your eyes will be also reduced so eyestrain could easily catch your eyes.

Besides, you also need to take frequent break for your eyes. The easiest way is by taking 20 seconds break every 20 to stare into the distance. During this break, keep off your eyes from the screen. Therefore, your eyes will get enough rest and ready to continue working. The next simple way in resting your eyes is covering your eyes with your palms to keep them in complete darkness. Do it for about a minute to reduce your eyestrain, so you can continue working in comfort.

To improve your comfort in working with computer, you can also replace your CRT monitor into LCD one. CRT monitors tend to have more bad effect to your eyes. It hurts your eyes faster and also has bigger radiation that might be very harmful for your eyes. By providing LCD monitors, those dangerous risks could be reduced significantly. However, if you still have to use CRT monitors, you can add external anti-glare filter to reduce the level of eyestrain.

By following those tips, you can always work with your computer in comfortable and convenient way. Do not let the bad effects of computer monitors reduce the quality of your sight.
