A Different Plan
A Different Plan

It is in the news often that the American economy is suffering, but Americans are unable to determine exactly how to fix it. What we hear is not often what can be believed, but we can trust what we see, and what is being seen is a dramatic decrease in jobs. The continuing loss of jobs and the growing number of businesses that are closing their doors show us the struggles of the economy. In order to help solve this problem, our government decided to institute a stimulus package to help bail out many large businesses. This stimulus has been designed to help over the course of several years, and because of this, many believe it is merely a faulted plan.

Billions of dollars have been given to businesses to keep them up on their debt. The money they received was to keep them running and keep the workers from losing their jobs. Many people believe that the money that was granted to them was simply too much. It seems counterproductive to spend billions of dollars when an economy is already in debt up to the trillions.

There are many who have suggested these businesses should have had to file for chapter eleven bankruptcy. This process would force these businesses to pay back their debts while still being aloud to stay open. Chapter eleven would have the businesses reach an agreement to pay back the debt they owe while allowing them to continue their daily activities. This would then not endanger the jobs of millions of people. This may have been a more effective way to fix the economy while saving billions of dollars. The truth is that no one knows for sure what will work, or how the economy continues to fluctuate. All we know is that it does go up and down, and we try to stay on the right side of the line as often as we can.
