NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Psychology is the study of behavior. The term NLP or neuro-linguistic programming refers to a field of psychology involved in administration education and life training, and also in self-help. The belief of the method is that language plays an important part in the behaviors of people. Not only that, but people's behavior can be reconfigured by utilizing techniques to alter the language a person used, both internally and externally.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) came to be known after it was founded by linguists named John Grinder and Richard Bandler. These two founders believed that there is a link between one's language ability (including both verbal and nonverbal), and one's brain and central nervous system functions. By improving the standard of this language ability one can improve his or her lifestyle, economical status, and can attain excellence in their field of business or education. This is the main concept of the NLP method.

The limitation of neuro-linguistic programming is that it is a somewhat subjective experience. It is a controversial, hotly contested subject nowadays in psychotherapy. This concept stresses one thing - that all human beings have behavior of a particular structure. Specialists in neuro-linguistic programming have developed recognized models of standard human behavior. Based on this method anyone's formal models of behavior can be identified and specialists can then make forecasts or predications on a person's behavior.

Language travels through the central nervous system and brain, and all the impulses are stored as information. One's positive or negative expressions are based on stored impulses in the brain. Assumptions are made based on the value and power of the expressions of any person and the meaning of the overall expressions. By finding the subject's sensory insight, the subject's mind is altered by inputting different positive or negative suggestions inside the brain.

This method has a great impact in the field of self-help. A poor student can be converted to a brilliant student and a failing businessman can be converted into a successful businessman just by altering their thought patterns by using NLP. Even thought this field was founded in the 70s, it is getting slowly used more often in the fields of business management and education. Studies continue which are assessing the claims that NLP can aid a person to become more productive through the use of its techniques.
