The medical field is an ever growing and popular field. This is due to the fact that this field that there is high demand for skilled individuals knowledgeable in this area. Medical transcriptionists play an important role in the medical field. Transcriptionists listen to recordings and type text into a word processor. This is a job requiring great skill, detail, and the ability to follow medical dictation.

This job is evolving as our society becomes more and more digital with the advances made in television, Internet, and mobile phones. Medical Transcriptionists must be able to keep up with today's fast paced society.Digital landscape creates programs and allow the users to create a virtual world. As our society evolves and becomes more digital so does the medi world. Digital Landscape allows the medical transcriptionists to work more independently and for more clients. It is also efficient, easy to use, and relatively inexpensive.

Digital Medical transcription is a complex process. There must be mediation between the client and the transcriptionist. Before the medical transcriptions are even transcribed, work must be done by the client. The client needs a digital recorder, internet account, and an email address. The process begins with the client dictating into a digital voice recorder. He or she then uploads the file onto the computer. (Digital Dictation and Transcription). After the file is uploaded, it is then saved into the computer. The client then attaches the file to an email. The email is then sent to the transcriptionist with the file attached (Digital Dictation and Transcription). If the client does not have an email account, a memory device must be sent with the recorded dictation.

The medical transcriptionist needs a special foot pedal such as Wavpedal software and footpedal, or computer that has a usb port or serial port connection, and a word processing software such as Microsoft Office 2007 or Corel Word Perfect Office 12 Small Business(Digital Dictation and Transcription).

There is a downside to digital transcription. As with all information put on computers, transcriptions are prone to hackers. The email must be encrypted in order to maintain confidentiality, and protect the integrity of the clients and the medical transcription. The benefits of digital transcription far outweigh the risks. The costs, time saved, and greater productivity are worth it.

Anyone working for a Medical Transcriptionist company or looking into the field of medical transcription needs to be familar with digital transcription. It will become more important as the medical field and society in general continues to upgrade in technological advances.
