The Mini Scooter
The Mini Scooter

In the constant battle to make our vehicles more eco friendly and safer n the environment, mini have gone back to the mod stage and released an eco mini. The vehicle has zero emissions and is powered by a lithium ion battery which is linked to its electric motor. The scooter can be charged directly from household mains, so is minimising the need for docking stations, and a complete recharge is expected to take around four hours. A clever little battery charge indicator tells the driver how much battery they have left, and converts this into the amount of miles they will be able to drive before they run out. Its top speed is restricted to fifty miles per hour so it is more likely to be used as a run around in the city rather than a solution to general car replacement.

It has some really clever little features too, including a no key system, where the driver just clips their smart phone to the handle bars. This is the security key, and will then start the vehicle. The screen of the phone then doubles as a sat nav, music player or blue tooth telephone, with a special crash helmet that has integrated headphones and microphone so that people can use the phone when driving.

Its predicted to go on sale around the time of the Olympics, and with you being able to top up the charge when you are out and about, it seems like it is going to be quite popular.

If you are driving on Britain's roads make sure that you have the correct Car Insurance.
