I have enjoyed a very abundant reading journey through all my life. I started with Spanish literature, which ended up on an infatuation with Spain, its landscape, people and history. Though, early after I graduated from college, I headed into a very different direction with my love and hunger for reading. I disregarded basically any type of fiction and rendered to the sound of non- fiction texts. :-) I felt so free from the preconception of what a good author is and do, many times I felt bouncing of happiness and relief. It was not until then when I was able to feel and hear other voices inside of me.
I still remember the visualization exercise that made me build an image of a sea right in front of me to exemplify the abundance that was at my service, when reading for the first time "You can Heal your Life" of Louise L. Hay. I, as well, can still experience the feeling of freedom and peace a reflection on the same book gave me. Such it is I still recite it by heart.
In a time of my life when I used to commute for two hours to go to work with my two years old with me in the car at 4:00 a.m., I found that Deepak Chopra had given me the gift of focus on the essence of what we are. God acquired a new dimension and His face kept getting definition. "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" felt to me like a place where to be ME, I read it more than ten times during that semester.
Then, I came across another couple of people who certainly made me keep growing. Ecknath Easwaran, Eckhart Tolle, Iyanla Vanzant, the book "A Course in Miracles" and the Kriya Yoga experience, handed in a divinely sweet way by Paramahansa Yogananda, gave to my life direction, meaning and the sense of certainty that I once started having as a Catholic girl at church and school.
I even re-encountered an author I had heard about but never actually read anything from: Dr. Wayne Dyer. It was pleasantly surprising finding out, when I read "The Power of Intention", that he had met Yogananda and other yogis I truly admired back then and still do. But, I was still not too comfortable with accepting that what surrounds us is a mirror of ourselves.
I now know why it was so uncomfortable for me, and I also now know what it really means. It means I have always had the control of my life and all that manifests in it. It is all my creative designing! How much more awesome can it be? Remembering the power of prophecy that rests on my desire has become my North Star.
Now, not only I accept that all surrounding me is a mirror of myself, but also I take proud credit on it and decide, at all times, what I want to be surrounded by. Freedom and joy: it cannot get better than that. Try it!
