It is fairly obvious that most of the global populace does not know how to eat healthy. Why is this a problem, you might ask? The answer is, all so obvious when you see it - obesity and disease. How many people do you know that are overweight, even so much so that they could be considered obese? How many do you know that suffer from adult onset diabetes or heart disease? While some cases of heart disease can be genetic, it is often caused by the lifestyles we live. This is also very true for adult onset diabetes, also known as Type-2 Diabetes. Most of the people with this disease are diagnosed later in life, and the majorities of them are overweight (or have been). See, the onset of this disease is caused by the inability of the body to process sugar as it should. This, unfortunately, is usually caused by years of unhealthy eating habits. Which is also what can cause people to have heart and other life threatening disease; not the sugar per say, but the poor eating habits. So, what are poor eating habits? Does this mean I overeat? Does it mean I under eat? Does it mean I am not eating the right foods? It could mean any of these, but most likely it means that you are not sticking to a healthy eating diet. Many people try to cut their portions down, but continue to eat foods that are processed. Others try to eat many times a day, which is great, but again, fill themselves with high fructose. Others think it best to eat 3 good sized portions a day and nothing else. The problem here is that we have not been properly educated on what our body needs. Some of us have an idea, but very few have the full picture. After living a long life of eating in this manner, most would think it nearly impossible to change the way they eat. However, this couldn't be farther from the truth. It only takes one baby step at a time, and within a matter of a month, you will have a new outlook on food. Here are the basics: (1) eat 5-6 small meals each day or eat every 2-3 hours, (2) remove packaged foods from your diet (includes most things in a jar, can, box, etc), and (3) think fresh, organic, and natural. These three steps, alone, can give you the energetic life you have been looking for. It will also help to prevent many adult diseases that are caused from poor eating habits.Change one thing at a time, do this for a couple days, then move to the next. Before you know you will have created healthy eating habits for yourself and your family. But, there is one more trick here, do not treat this as a diet, it is NOT. Eat natural foods 80% of the time and treat yourself the other 20%. This keeps you from wanting to "cheat" and you will have a much higher success rate. Your health is important; the only way to keep it is to give your body what it needs to thrive.
