Hamburg School District's plan to distribute laptops to some students is progressing, administrators and board members learned at the school board meeting Monday night. dell battery.

"I can take this laptop home and I have everything I need," Jessica Dompkowski, a 10th-grader at the high school, told the board.

She is part of the district's IT Crowd, 23 ninth- through 12th-graders who are testing the laptops before all ninth-graders get one in January. Plans are for each incoming class of ninth-graders to get laptops.

She told the board it is easier for her to take notes on the laptop, and that the computer makes creating presentations, such as a brochure on a plant cell for biology class, less stressful.

The students in the IT Crowd have been testing everything about the laptops, including battery life, durability and carrying cases. sony laptop battery.

"We had a couple issues we weren't aware of until the students took them out and used them for the entire day," said Than J. Wright, the information technology supervisor.

An advisory group of parents, school board members and administrators meets once a month.

Some of the issues that have come up include wireless Internet access for students at home and webcams in the laptops.

School board member Marianna C. Burns said the laptop program will cost the district about $40,000 a year. The district would lease the laptops.

Also, the board will interview four candidates to replace school board member Curtis B. Adams, 20, who resigned last month. compaq notebook battery.
