Did My Network Marketing Upline Lie To Me?

The person who recruited me into my network marketing business opportunity was a multi-millionaire, not some dude off the street with no business experience. I felt so blessed and looked up to him like a mentor and followed his teachings religiously. Needless to say, after a year and a half I failed. Was it me or did he lie to me?Looking back my mentor and upline taught me that network marketing has to be kept simple. It is built on a duplicatation and must be easy for a novice to do. I was also taught to take myself out of the picture and leverage my company and upline for recruiting people into my business. I was taught to follow my company's marketing system and not sell but share.

My company's marketing system involved building my warm market list of friends and family, sharing the plan using 3-way calls with my upline's help, hand out company DVD's, CD's, Audio's, and Magazines to prospects, inviting out to Private business receptions, trainings and conferences and finally purchasing business opportunity leads provided by my company and cold call.

I hated cold calling! I hated being looked at like a telemarketer and not a professional. However, I became quite comfortable with doing it. I found cold calling to be a necessary evil and my results were miserable. The folks I recruited by cold calling would do nothing and usually quit in the first few weeks.

I kept asking myself why did this work for my mentor and not me? It didn't make sense to me. One day while browsing online I stumbled across this 26 year old punk kid that was claiming he recruited 95 people into his network marketing business in 3 days without picking up the phone. I was like, 'yeah right, that's a bunch of crap'. However, there was something in me that wanted to know more and I was searching. You see, I have this no quit attitude and was not going to quit on my dream. I was curious so I gave this kid a chance on me. What he began to teach me was that there is a formula for recruiting massive amounts of prospects into your company fast and way easier than picking up the phone and cold calling people. Knowing how much I hated cold calling I kept listening.

I learned that I needed to be using 'cutting edge' technology if I wanted to recruit prospects into my network marketing business on auto-pilot. In the first three months of implementation I earned more money in my business than in a year and a half using my mentors strategy's. Was this to say my upline lied to me? NO. It worked for him. He happened to be the 1% of distributors that could make it work. The other 99% of us could never make it work. Looking back, I'm convinced there was absolutely no way I could have had the time using those strategy's to market to enough people to make a difference in my business. I'm thankful my business turned around 110% as a result of learning how to use cutting edge technology to do it.
