Getting Faster

I am often asked by parents about what techniques and equipment will make their child or teenager better athletes. For example, "What will help my son get faster in football?" Or, "How can my daughter improve her quickness for soccer?" This is a question that undoubtedly has a very hard answer.

There are so many variables that make children fast or athletic. How tall are they? How much do they weigh, is their body weight evenly distributed, how fast have they been growing (lends towards coordination), how active are they. Of all of those questions, the question that asks how active a child is, probably is the most important one.

Parents can spend hours reading about techniques and drills that made this child and that teenager faster. However, the most important question is whether or not that particular exercise is safe for your child or teenager.

Similar to every question on the Internet, these questions have already been asked and answered. The proper answer is explained in detail by Dr. Donald Chu. His book, Progressive Plyometrics for Kids, is a must read.

Not everybody has the time to read a book, however. Fortunately, the book includes a very detailed explanatory DVD.

There is also kid tested Speed Training equipment for children and young adults that is safe and affordable. The key is always whether it is safe for children. For the past year, we have recommended www.AgilitySpeedTraining.com to our clients.

Ultimately for success, the three most important requirements are a willingness to work, a safe viable plan for accomplishment, and safe products.

Finally, it is important to remember that genetics play a part. A child that is five foot five shouldn't be expected to dunk a basketball. However, plyometrics and the proper equipment can help a boy or girl naturally achieve their maximum potential.
