Make sure it is spill-proof so that not too much water will be lost especially since you cannot keep an eye on it all the time. Also, make sure you keep it in a shaded area so that the water does not end up being too hot nor does it freeze too easily during cool weather. Also make sure that your dog gets the food and nutrients he need, so that he will have enough energy to stay active or protect himself from cold weather. Other than that, make sure there are no hazardous things outside like toxic plants or sharp objects so they do not get hurt easily.
